Athena Visage Award Winning Designer - Goldsmith's Craft and Design Award
Share
The13th of February started like any other day, or at least that is what I had told myself. I was supposed to meet up with Erin in the studio to work on our jewellery designs, until Erin called me and said, "Louise, guess what? I have won an award at the Goldsmiths' Craft & Design Council for a piece of our jewellery we submitted!"
I was ecstatic, over the moon. You see, Erin and I had only started our jewellery business last year, and while we had already won some awards—an incredible feat for emerging jewellery designers—this one felt different. It was unique, prestigious, and deeply meaningful. I could not have been more proud of her. Though we work well as a team, Erin, at just 23, had worked tirelessly for this. I think I screamed, "No way!"
We had no idea which piece had won, as per the Goldsmiths' Craft & Design Council's regulations—it was to remain a surprise until the ceremony. From that moment on, waves of excitement carried us forward.
The day itself felt surreal. Erin was attending the award night on her own, while I sat nervously in the hotel room, watching the event unfold live online. I felt an intense nervousness for her—23 years old, representing our brand at such a prestigious jewellery design event on her own. What a huge achievement. The night passed in a blur. From about 1 PM, we spent the afternoon getting her ready, making sure she had everything she needed. Erin looked radiant, every bit the talented designer she had worked so hard to become. And yet, I think I was more anxious watching from behind a screen.
The ceremony itself was steeped in tradition, a grand affair full of history and elegance. One of the most striking figures of the night was the Beadle, draped in a deep red ceremonial cloak, a figure straight out of history. His presence, along with the Prime Warden and other distinguished members of the Goldsmiths' Company, made the whole event feel like stepping into a different era—regal, prestigious, and slightly overwhelming.
But Erin, in her usual way, took it all in stride. While I was sitting there with my nerves tangled up, she was standing among some of the greatest artisans in the jewellery industry, poised and composed. Later, when we spoke, she admitted it had been intimidating at first, but she quickly settled into the rhythm of the night. "It was surreal, but once I was there, I just soaked it all in," she told me.
And then, the moment came—Erin received the award for our Celestial Halo Ring. Seeing her achieve this level of recognition, knowing all the hard work, passion, and dedication that had led to this moment, filled me with immense pride. It was more than an award—it was a milestone in our journey as jewellery designers. Incredible work, Erin—you did it!
This achievement at the Goldsmiths' Craft & Design Council Awards marks a defining moment for our jewellery brand. It reaffirms our passion for crafting unique, high-quality jewellery designs and reminds us why we fell in love with this art form in the first place. As we continue to grow in the jewellery industry, this recognition fuels our drive to keep pushing boundaries and creating meaningful pieces for those who appreciate artistry and craftsmanship.
Beyond this, Erin’s talent continues to gain international recognition. Her intricate and contemporary jewellery designs recently led her to become a finalist in the IGI Expressions Jewellery Design Competition, an honour that celebrates creativity and craftsmanship on a global scale. This is just the beginning of her journey, and we’re excited to share more about this achievement in an upcoming blog post.
For those looking for bespoke jewellery design, this recognition highlights the artistry and precision we bring to every piece. If you’re inspired by our award-winning designs and wish to commission a custom piece, we’d love to bring your vision to life. Whether it’s a statement ring, an heirloom-quality piece, or something completely unique, we craft jewellery that tells a story.
